Following an acid or alkaline diet can be difficult if you don’t know whether some of the drinks you consume are acidic or alkaline.
Fruits and vegetables are generally healthy for you, but many of your favorite fruits and vegetables, while beneficial, are acidic.
If you suffer from acid reflux or heartburn, it may be a good idea to avoid these juices or consume them in moderation.
Here you will find a selection of juices, sorted from the most acidic to the least acidic.
1. Lemon juice
I think this probably goes without saying, but lemon juice is very acidic. The pH of lemon juice is 2, making it one of the most acidic drinks and fruits known to man.
While you probably won’t squeeze a ton of lemons into a glass and drink from them, limiting the amount of lemon juice you put in your water or even lemonade will prevent you from experiencing any discomfort.
2. Lime juice
Lime juice follows closely behind lemon juice as the most acidic juice. Similar to lemon juice, you probably won’t squeeze dozens of limes and drink the juice alone, but you should be careful about how much you add to water and other drinks. Depending on the lime, its pH value is usually between 2 and 2.3.
Not sure what to drink? Have you tried the alkaline smoothie diet yet? Try it once. You might be surprised.
3. Blueberry juice
Blueberry juice isn’t the most popular juice on the market, but if you’re looking to juice your own fruits and vegetables at home, blueberry juicing has probably crossed your mind.
If you’re planning on making or purchasing blueberry juice, the acidity might make you change your mind.
Blueberry juice has a pH value of 2.5 to 2.9, making it barely less acidic than lemon and lime juice.
4. Cranberry juice
Cranberry juice is known to have many health benefits if you drink pure cranberry juice and not a cranberry juice cocktail.
Although it contains some excellent nutrients, the acidity can be unhealthy depending on the amount you drink. Most cranberry juices have a pH of 2.6, which is still incredibly acidic.
5. Grapefruit juice
Most citrus fruits have a fairly high acidity due to their acidity. Grapefruits are no exception to this statement.
If you enjoy drinking a glass of grapefruit juice with breakfast, you may want to reconsider how often you drink it. This type of juice has a pH of 2.9.
6. Cherry juice
Another unusual juice you’ll find in the store is cherry juice. If you are thinking about juicing cherries or purchasing cherry juice, keep in mind that the acid content in the juice is high. The pH value is around 3.
7. Grape juice
Grape juice is delicious whether it is traditional purple grape juice or white grape juice.
Unfortunately, grape juice is acidic and has a pH between 3 and 4. But anything in moderation is usually fine.
8. Apple juice
Apple juice is by far my favorite juice to drink with breakfast or any time of the day. But since apples are acidic, it’s no surprise that apple juice is also acidic.
Depending on the brand or apples you want to juice yourself, the pH of apple juice can range from 3.53 to 4.
9. Orange juice
I think orange juice is one of the most popular juices on the market because it’s sweet, great for breakfast, and makes a great mixer for alcohol. But this citrus fruit produces a fairly acidic juice. The pH of orange juice can range between 3.3 and 4.
Not sure what to drink? Have you tried the alkaline smoothie diet yet? Try it once. You might be surprised.
10. Peach juice
When I think of peaches, I tend to think that they are sweeter than oranges, so it was surprising to me to learn that peach juice and orange juice have the same pH range. The pH of peach juice can be 3.3 to 4.
11. Pineapple juice
Pineapple juice is another delicious juice that goes well with almost anything, including alcohol.
Not surprisingly, pineapple juice is acidic and has a pH of 3.5. If you plan to mix pineapple juice with alcohol, consider choosing a more neutral or alkaline alcohol.
12. Pear juice
It can be difficult to determine the exact pH of most foods and juices, but the pH ranges are usually very close to each other.
For pear juice, the pH value is in the range of 3.5 to 4.6. So pear juice is always acidic, but depending on which brand you buy or which pears you juice, you may end up with a pear juice that is more acidic than another.
13. Pomegranate juice
Pomegranate juice is slightly acidic with a pH of 3.5. However, the unique thing about pomegranate juice is that the pH changes to 5.5 after consumption.
This is still an acidic pH, but significantly less acidic than 3.5 when you first drink it.
14. Guava juice
Guava is a delicious and unique juice that allows you to diversify the juices you drink. But like most juices, guava juice is acidic.
Most guava juice products are mixed with other acidic fruits like pineapple and orange, but even guava juice itself has a pH of 3.6.
15. Plum juice
I don’t know many people who enjoy or drink prune juice regularly, but this juice is acidic if you do. Plum juice has a pH of 3.9.
When it comes to the acidic side of the pH scale, the pH may be somewhere in the middle, but at the end of the day it is still acidic.
16. Tomato juice
Tomato juice is acidic, but probably not as acidic as you might think. Personally, I thought tomato juice would be closer to the acidity of pineapple or lemons, but the pH of tomato juice is between 4.1 and 4.6.
17. Coconut water
Before you say coconut water isn’t a juice, it is. Juice is any liquid that comes from a fruit or vegetable. Since coconut water is obtained from coconuts, it is a juice.
Coconut water is acidic, but is much closer to a neutral rating than previous juices on this list. The pH of most coconut waters is 5 to 5.4.
18. Papaya juice
If you’re looking for a juice that isn’t nearly as acidic as your beloved apple or orange juice, papaya juice is a good option.
Papaya juice is still acidic with a pH of 5.2, but it is much healthier than a juice with more acidity.
19. Celery juice
Celery juice has been all the rage lately. Drinking celery juice daily has several health benefits.
The good news is that the pH of celery juice is between 5.7 and 6 if you’ve been on a celery juice kick. That’s still sour, but it’s pretty close to a neutral rating of 7.
20. Mango juice
Mango is an excellent fruit in summer and the juice is just as delicious. Luckily for all mango and mango juice lovers: mangoes are not nearly as sour as they seem.
Most mango juices have a pH of 5.8 to 6, but as with most juices, this can vary depending on the brand you buy or the mangos you choose to juice.
21. Pickle juice
Cucumbers are refreshing and cucumber juice is no different. This refreshing juice is technically acidic, but the pH is so close to neutral that you’re unlikely to experience any symptoms of heartburn.
And if you do, they will probably be minor. The pH of cucumber juice is 6.2.
22. Carrot juice
I don’t like drinking carrot juice, but apparently it’s a pretty popular juice. Carrots are fantastic for you and provide your body with some vital nutrients.
When you juice carrots, you still get all of those wonderful nutrients. Carrot juice is another juice that is technically considered acidic, with a pH of 6.2, but it is close to neutral.
23. Beet juice
Drinking beet juice is a popular choice these days. Let’s be honest. The color is beautiful and the health benefits are even better.
Athletes and those who exercise regularly like to drink beetroot juice as it can be a natural performance enhancer.
It is even known to help control blood pressure. The good news is that beet juice is almost neutral. The pH of beet juice is 6.6, just 0.4 away from neutral.
24. Wheatgrass juice
Have you ever been to a smoothie shop or a healthy restaurant? You’ve probably seen wheatgrass shots or something similar to the juice that’s on the menu.
This product literally looks like grass, and they cut some of it and mix it with water to make wheatgrass juice.
Wheatgrass is known to have significant health benefits, and it may not taste great, but it spoils quickly. Wheatgrass juice is basically neutral, although it is still on the acidic side of the scale. The pH of this juice is 6.7.
25. Acai berry juice
Acai berries have been gaining popularity recently as they are used in acai bowls and various smoothies.
But when you juice these berries, you end up with a delicious juice that you won’t want to put down.
There are not many sources that provide the exact pH of acai berry juice, but experts have found that this juice is alkaline.
